Why Use Mesh Mea Instead Of A 2d Mea For Organoid Research?

Organoids are an in-vitro model for drug screening, and offer a way to record electrical data from a self-organizing 3D culture system that's highly similar to a human organ. A 2D MEA chip cannot record data from inside the organoid, as gravity will cause morphological changes to its structure, which influences the physiology of the organoid. Our Mesh MEA maintains the morphology of the organoid and allows for the recording of signals from inside the structures.

Multi Channel Systems also offers 3D MEA solutions with protruding electrodes, which are ideal for slice recordings, but will also cause morphological changes to an organoid.
Mesh MEA is an ideal solution: The cells grow around the electrodes, allowing you to record data from the inner cells without damaging cells or the structure of the organoid. Our Mesh MEA will be compatible with the MEA2100 series.
